3D modeling industry works with schools

It seems like a good ideal based off what I’ve read about it in 3D World magazine. Cgcoach.com is a website that offers students a free 10 week critique period from industry professionals from studios like Animal Logic and Passion Pictures.

The students make a proposal for the projects that they would like to work on and then the staff at the student’s school decides what project to submit. After that, the students get critiques and help from their mentor at cgcoach.com.

I have been reading a lot about the industry complaining that students are not coming out of schools ready for a job. I have also seen many responses telling the pros if they have a problem with it they should lend a hand or at least let the schools know what skills are coming in demand.

I think sites like this are a step in the right direction.
At this time, the site is in private beta testing. The site should be available internationally to schools in 2009.
